This is a metro region of over four million people that has nurtured alums like Frank Zappa, Ben Harper, Kris Kristofferson, Joan Baez, Robin Williams, Sam Kinison, Twyla Tharp, Richard Neutra, Snoop Dog, and Paul Revere Williams. There are thousands of practicing artists and creative art professionals. There are performing arts complexes, theater companies, orchestras, operas, and ballets. There are fine art museums and dozens of fine art galleries. There are a dozen collegiate art departments and two MFA programs. There are film festivals, touring Broadway shows, and national music acts.
